Introduction

“There are battles that make no sound.”

Boy Child was written during a period of deep reflection, capturing the quiet reality of many young men who learn to survive without being taught how to heal. Rather than speaking about strength as perfection, the poem confronts abandonment, heartbreak, and the difficult choice between protecting one's peace and remaining vulnerable in a world that often misunderstands sensitivity.

Boy child chose to be alone in a world full of people, with hearts full of hatred.

He was right!

Boy child chose self-love overall, after loving too many who never loved him back.

He was right!

Boy child rode that boat all by himself. In the very first place, he had nobody but himself.

He is tired!

Boy child looked right and turned left, walked straight into the dark. People left… and so did he.

He is gone!

Boy child is then afraid of light. He'd be seen again, tried again, lied to. He's tired too.

And when that girl left, when she walked away—

Boy child cried.

So sad.

Over and over again,

Boy child was just right.

Author's Note

This poem is not about giving up—it is about giving a voice to emotions that are too often carried in silence. Boy Child reflects the loneliness, heartbreak, and quiet resilience of young men who are expected to be strong even when they are hurting.

To every boy carrying silent battles behind an ordinary smile, this poem is for you.
